Mobile Health Monitoring

Health is wealth no?  This might just be our key to seven figures. New tech from Japan is bringing wireless monitoring of your vitals to the masses.  So the next time you indulge in that Starbucks triple frappuccino your mobile may just buzz. Not with joy, but with your doctor… The Japanese firm WIN Human Recorder Co has developed a device called the HRS-I, that in conjunction with your mobile phone can measure heart rate, brain waves, body temp, pulse and loads of other bodily functions. Movements are detected by a triple-axis accelerometer, so if you’re the philandering type.. It’s probably best not to have this on while you’re doing the horizontal mambo. The unit is fairly compact at 30 x 30 x 5mm and weighs in at only 7grams. Whilst not invisible its size allows for normal activity, and free range of movement. Potential for this device is huge, hospitals could increase their outpatient numbers, while assisted living homes can keep better track of those in poor health. A coin battery fetches you 3-4 days of runtime and the unit itself costs in the ~$335USD range. Alas, you’ll have to suck up a monthly monitoring fee of ~$110 while in Japan.. Since it’s still only available there.
