iOS 4.1 bootrom exploit found, new jailbreak method on the way

Almost in unison with Apple releasing iOS 4.1, iOS tinkerer pod2g announced a bootrom exploit that will allow the jailbreaking community access to the innards of the California company’s mobile operating system. The exploit will eventually facilitate the next wave of iDevice jailbreaking, and isn’t something that can be plugged with a simple software update; Apple would have to flash a new bootrom to iPhones, etc. before they leave the factory. The iPhone Dev-Team is cautioning that all users steer clear of iOS 4.1 for the time being, but know that they — and others — are on the case.

UPDATE: We’re being told by someone who has knowledge about this exploit that in order to patch this particular bootrom hack Apple would need “a whole new processor rev.” A re-flashed or patched bootrom for the current hardware would not be sufficient.

GM testing OnStar Facebook and texting functionality

General Motors is ready to bring the fight to Ford's Sync system with a reworked version of OnStar, but the salient details won't be revealed for another seven days. However, we've gotten word from the General that it's testing two new features: Audio Facebook updates and voice texting.

On the Facebook front, GM is the experimental phase of integrating OnStar with the 800-pound social media gorilla, allowing users to verbally update their Facebook status via audio recordings, with the possibility of utilizing the OnStar Virtual Advisor feature to read off Facebook status updates and news feeds.

Voice texting works in a similar manner, pairing the driver's Bluetooth mobile phone to OnStar and allowing the system to read received SMS messages and reply using a voice command to select four pre-set messages. That's not true voice-to-text functionality, but it's similar to what's being offered by other automakers.

GM testing OnStar Facebook and texting functionality originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 08 Sep 2010 13:30:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

car photo 392827 7 New Improved Bentley Continental GT Unveiled Simultaneously on the Net

It is a big event. The unveiling of the new Bentley Continental GT. And everyone is welcome. It is the first time that Bentley has revealed its all new super coupe live on the internet. A live feed on the internet will allow the viewers to see the car from a variety of angles. They can see the car inside and out all through the live stream on the internet.

Auto Express was amongst very few of the magazines who were granted exclusive back stage access to the car and Raul Pires who is the head of the design for the car. Pires explained that they had three objectives in front of them – to improve the proportions, to make the signature lines more contemporary and give the car a more handmade feel.

If you see closely you will realize that the car is definitely new. Every panel is new except the rear view mirrors. The changes have been drastic in terms of processes and the materials used. The changes have been more time consuming and expensive but according to Pires it is possible to experiment with a low volume car. The interiors have also undergone a facelift; the hand-crafted interior has been reworked for even greater luxury and functionality. The seats, the carpeting and the dashboard have all improved keeping in mind the comfort, functionality and luxury.
